Many Presbyterian congregations, including ours, elect and ordain not only elders, but also deacons. At First (Scots), the Session delegates to the Board of Deacons (or Diaconate) three major areas of responsibility: the maintenance of church property, congregational care, and evangelism. Consequently, deacons chair the Congregational Care and Property Divisions () as well as the Evangelism Committee ().
