Koinonia (pronounced koy-no-NEE-ah) is the Greek word used in the New Testament to describe the early church. It means "community" or " fellowship."  At First (Scots), half a dozen groups of about twenty people use this word to describe themselves and their role within the congregation.

Each Koinonia Group gathers monthly to share a meal and enjoy Christian fellowship, usually on Friday night or Sunday noon at the home of one of its members.  The groups are primarily social in nature and include people of all ages.  However, they often lead to strong friendships between Christians united by a common vision.
