The Presbyterian Outlook offers an independent viewpoint on church happenings and looks outside of the PCUSA as well as within.  In addition to reporting the news, it focuses on Christian education and features a weekly book review.  Based in Richmond, It traces its ancestry back 180 years and prides itself on accuracy and fairness.

The Presbyterian Layman is published by the Presbyterian Lay Committee, a group within the PCUSA but most assuredly outside of its official structure.  Reporting, interpreting, and commenting on events from a conservative perspective, The Presbyterian Layman has frequently opposed the leadership of the PCUSA and has thus been a controversial voice within our denomination since its inception in 1968.  Lately, the Layman has been a vocal advocate of the "Confessing Church Movement."
