Flood Relief Information

We remember all across our state who have been affected by the recent flooding, especially those who have lost loved ones, homes, businesses and property. We pray for communities across our state as they come together and begin to recover and to heal from this disaster.

Support the SC Flood Victims

Our Local Missions Committee and Disaster Relief Committee have identified three opportunities for the members of our congregation to contribute to the relief efforts to aid victims of the unprecedented flooding in our area. Here is how you can help.

  • We are collecting needed supplies at the church in a designated box to be taken to those recovering from the flood. Diapers, cleaning wipes, paper towels and toilet paper will be collected and delivered to the Charleston Fire Department headquarters at 1451 King Street. Alternatively, the supplies may be delivered  directly to the headquarters at the address above.
  • In the short term, potable drinking water is in short supply. Water Missions is sending water purification systems to Columbia, SC. You can send donations to Water Missions International via this link: http://www.watermissions.org/disaster. You can also send a check to Water Missions International at P.O. Box 31258, Charleston, SC 29417 designated “SC Flood Relief.”
  • Our Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) program has already been in touch with all five Presbyteries in South Carolina to begin assessing the clean-up and recovery needs of our communities and congregations. To donate go tohttp://www.presbyterianmission.org/donate/make-a-gift/gift-info/DR000191/ or checks can be mailed to: Presbyterian Church (USA), PO Box 643700, Pittsburgh PA, 15264-3700. Please be sure to include DR000191 on the memo line.

We will be looking for opportunities to continue to support our neighbors in their recovery.

With Gratitude,  The Local Missions and Disaster Relief Committees

The First (Scots) property weathered the storm…

Although we experienced some minor issues from the storm, we feel very fortunate. With the force and flow of the rain, the gutters on the sanctuary backed up into 2 of our auxiliary rooms. The carriage house had some leakage from the windows and our basement did flood. All repairs are underway.

Thank you to those who have called to check with the staff on the church property and provided assistance with the cleanup.
