Important Weather Notice and Cancellation

Dear First (Scots) Friends,
We hope that you are safe as we face the adverse flooding conditions that exist in Charleston today. You and the people of Charleston are in our prayers.
After carefully considering the circumstances we face today and tomorrow and the request of law enforcement officials that for safety reasons no one travel on the peninsula, we are cancelling all activities at First (Scots) for tomorrow including the two worship services.
This is not a decision that we make lightly as worship of God is central to our life together, but we believe that due to weather conditions today and tomorrow this is a necessary decision for the safety and welfare of all of our members.
Our prayer is that you will all be safe during this trying time of flooding and dislocation. We encourage you if you are in distress to call for emergency assistance (911). Please let the Reverend James Rogers know if there is help that the church can give.(843-513-3717)
Please join us in the scripture reading and prayer below for God’s help and comfort during this time of crisis.
Yours in Christ,

Psalm 46: 1-5;10-11
 God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved;
God will help it when the morning dawns.
 ‘Be still, and know that I am God!
I am exalted among the nations,
I am exalted in the earth.’
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.
Prayer in Time of Crisis
Gracious God, Creator of the Universe and Giver of Life,
We turn to you in this time of storm and flood. We pray for the safety and well-being of brothers and sisters in First (Scots) and all of your children affected by this storm and the flooding that is accompanying it. Please be with the public safety officials who supply rescue and comfort for those in danger. Enable us to offer support and comfort to our neighbors. In this time of crisis, remind us of your steadfast love in Jesus Christ from whom nothing in all creation can separate us.
All of this we pray in the name of Christ our Lord.
